In recent years there has been a visible trend of growth in terms of both the formation and international expansion of Polish cybersecurity companies. Experts attribute this trend to accelerated developments in technology as well as the overall growth of Polish economy.
Currently, there are over 100 Polish companies specialising in cybersecurity. Among them, there are both startups and more established entities which have been operating in the industry for over 30 years. Most companies are based in large urban areas with Warsaw being the dominant center where around one third of the companies is located. Other important hubs include cities such as Poznan, Wroclaw and Cracow.
The size of Polish cyber security market reached 1.34 bln USD in 2019. Judged solely by its size, the market may seem small but it is comparable to those of larger EU countries such as Spain and Italy. The industry has been showing a strong growth trend. Only in 2019 it expanded by 14.3%. Steady growth of the sector is expected in the coming years as well.
Polish companies are active in various cybersecurity areas which include data security, identity access management, infrastructure protection, integrated risk management, application security, cloud security, network security equipment, security software as well as other information security software. So far, the most important group of clients for Polish companies have been large public and private companies, state and public entities as well as universities.
A number of Polish companies offering cybersecurity products and services belongs to the #CyberMadeInPoland cluster. #CyberMadeInPoland is one of only two institutions from Central and Eastern Europe which hold the accreditation of European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) as a qualified issuer of the label cybersecurity made in Europe. The cluster also represents the entire region on the Global EPIC Platform of over 30 cybersecurity ecosystems form four continents.
